Periphery Portland Concert reviews
Meeting Anton after the show
An unfamiliar venue is always something walking into. I was getting ready for an amazing night, having driven all the way from Chicago. As I was going through security at The Pageant, I was asked if I was "okay" and then was told "your eyes look red", allergies were kicking in from being far south and my contacts, but not me at all, understandable. Regardless, I knew I wasn't on any substances. The audience started to come out with good vibes around 7:30 PM, as the show began about a half hour early. The two openers weren't my favorite, I can't really say, to me the lack of bass was present and I personally felt like something was wrong. Oliver came on and out of nowhere a COMPLETELY wasted couple ended up in front of me. I felt a bit uncomfortable, leaning on me, falling on me, using me as support to keep them up. They had left after a bit and it was back to a good time. My mind was blown when Periphery came on. The bass quality had improved, the screen came on and the light show was absolutely amazing. No complaints about the show after that. The visuals displaying on the screen were so intense, when something came flashing up on the screen I felt as if they were going to fly off the screen and hit me in the face. I had left the pit towards the end of the show to get water and realized that from other points of the venue the split screen wouldn't match up, the visuals were as amazing as where I was originally placed. After the show ended, we left towards the hotel, and we had seen some people my friend and myself had met in the venue who were looking for a friend of theirs. They told us about Zedds tour bus being parked right behind this wall where we were standing, so we walked over to a line of a few other people and waited a good hour and a half to meet Anton. After waiting to finally meet him, Anton turns to look at my friend and me, he points out my space-cat shirt and says his sound guy has that exact same shirt, and we talked a bit about some things. I ended up giving him one of my bracelets with my DJ/producing name on it, and he put it on and said he would look into some of my stuff. I don't think he really would or did do that, but the fact that I was able to say who I was and what I do, and my dream and passion is to be in his position and meet someone like me after a show was expressed, I was happy. It was an unreal experience, and I can't wait for another one just like it!
